High-surf advisory for north, west shores until Friday

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory remains in effect for north- and west-facing shores of O'ahu, Ni'ihau, Kaua'i and Moloka'i until 4 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service also said a high-surf advisory is in effect for Maui's northern shores and western shores off the Big Island.

The current northwest swell is expected to slowly diminish today, but surf heights are expected to continue exceeding advisory heights because of another large northwest swell that's building.

Today's surf along northern shores will be 14 feet to 18 feet. Surf along western shores will be 6 feet to 12 feet, southern and eastern shores will see surf 1 foot to 3 feet.

Tomorrow, surf along north and west shores will likely be above the warning levels, which are 25 feet and 20 feet, respectively.
