Hawaiian keeps top ranking for on-time flights in '06

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Airlines had the nation's second-best on-time performance in December but led all carriers for on-time performance for the full year, according to a U.S. Department of Transportation report.

The state's largest airline said 93.8 percent of its flights were on schedule in 2006, making it the third year in a row that it led the industry for on-time performance. Hawaiian also said it had the industry's best record for baggage handling and was fourth for fewest cancellations last year.

Rival Aloha Airlines had an industry leading 93.7 percent in December but the airline began reporting its on-time record in April and did not report full-year results. Hawaiian said its on-time record for December was 90.1 percent.
