Hilo woman faces charges after alleged stabbing

Advertiser Staff

Big Island police have charged a 29-year-old Hilo woman with second-degree attempted murder in connection with a stabbing on Monday.

Diana T. Klegner was arrested about 6 p.m. Monday after she allegedly stabbed a 40-year-old woman several times at an apartment complex in lower Waiakea Uka. Police said the victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where she was initially listed in serious condition but was released late Monday.

Police have not said what spurred the violence. In addition to the attempted-murder charge, Klegner was charged with third-degree assault.

She is being held at the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $250,000 bail.
