Cold front hits Kaua'i, moving toward O'ahu

The much-anticipated cold front is over Kaua'i and will continue to move slowly down the island chain over the next few days, the National Weather Service said.

The front will hit O'ahu tonight before weakening as it spreads to the Big Island tomorrow.

The extended forecast calls for the trade winds to return over the Pro Bowl weekend.

The volcanic haze that was observed near the Big Island and Maui will continue.

Today: Mostly cloudy. Occasional showers in the morning, then showers likely in the afternoon. Highs 71 to 77. Light winds. Chance of rain 80 percent.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with showers likely. Lows 54 to 62. North winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny with scattered showers. Highs 70 to 76. Northeast winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with showers likely. Lows 57 to 64. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Friday: Partly sunny with scattered showers. Highs 69 to 76. Northeast winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
