HECO using helicopters to inspect power lines

Advertiser Staff

If you see some low-flying helicopters over O'ahu over the next two weeks, it may be the Hawaiian Electric Company inspecting its power lines.

The inspections come after recent high winds and power outages. Inspections are weather permitting. This week's inspections were to run from Kane'ohe to Halawa Valley; from Halawa to Temple Valley and back through Kalihi Valley; and from Kalihi Valley to the Pukele Substation in the back of Palolo.

Next week's inspections will take place from Waiawa to the Kahe Power Plant in Nanakuli; from Waiawa to Waiau and to Wahiawa; from the Kahe Power Plant to Campbell Industrial Park; and from Kane'ohe to Waimanalo and to the Pukele Substation in Palolo.

All flights are on weekdays starting no earlier than 8:30 a.m. and lasting no later than 4:30 p.m.
