Petition drive begun for new WCC library
Advertiser Staff
Windward Community College students, faculty, staff and community members want to convince the governor to release design money for a new library/learning resource center and are organizing a petition drive to do that. The petition asks for the release of $2.6 million to design the project and an appropriation of $43.2 million to build it.
Anyone wishing to help can get a copy of the petition and fact sheet online at library.wcc.hawaii.edu/newbuilding.
The goal is to get 2,500 signatures.
The current library is a narrow 8,000-square-foot building that was built in the 1930s and served as a ward for the Hawai'i State Hospital.
