Police Beat: Man arrested in slingshot incident

A 26-year-old man was arrested about 8:30 last night after he allegedly shot an unknown projectile two acquaintances with a slingshot.

Two men, ages 25 and 36, told police they were at the suspect's house when an argument started.

The disagreement escalated to the point the suspect used a homemade slingshot to shoot a projectile at each of them, the two men told police.

The two men who were hit received minor injuries.

The suspect was located near his home on Kalani Street and arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Man with 80 prior arrests arrested in shoplifting incident

A 46-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested at the Pearlridge Shopping Center about 3:10 yesterday afternoon after a loss-prevention officer allegedly saw him taking items from one of the stores without paying for them.

A struggle ensued, but the security officer was able to subdue the man, police said.

Officers arrived at the shopping center and arrested the man, who has 80 prior arrests and who is currently on felony probation, on suspicion of second-degree robbery.

Man arrested in Makiki apartment robbery incident

Police arrested a 43-year-old Iwilei man yesterday after he allegedly robbed a 54-year-old woman at her Makiki apartment.

The woman said the man befriended her on a city bus and offered to walk her home about 7:10 a.m.

Once at the apartment, the man asked to use the bathroom, police said.

Once inside the apartment, he pulled two knives , threatened the woman and took two guitars.

Police arrived at the woman's apartment on Piikoi Street, found the suspect outside the woman's apartment, and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Teen arrested in motorcycle theft incident

A 19-year-old man who has no local address, was arrested early this morning in Ma'ili after a police officer found him driving a motorcycle that had been reported stolen.

Police said a patrol officer stopped the motorcyclist about 12:20 a.m. on Farrington Highway near Ma'ili'ili Road for a traffic violation and then discovered the motorcycle had been reported stolen.

The motorcycle operator was then arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Pair arrested in tie to stolen car

A 43-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested early this morning after police found the pair in 'Ewa traveling in a car that had been reported stolen.

Police said that about 12:30 a.m., the vehicle drew the attention of a patrol officer who checked on the car's license plate number and found a 55-year-old woman had reported the car stolen.

The officer ordered the man driving the car to pull over. He found the car was being operated without an ignition key and saw a wire hanging out of the steering column, police said.

The driver was then arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle while the woman passenger was arrested on suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Woman arrested after confrontation with police officer

A 20-year-old woman, with no local address, was arrested last night after she got into a confrontation with a police officer in Waikiki.

Police said the woman was upset that a parking ticket was left on her car's windshield earlier in the evening.

The woman came upon a second police officer, who was patrolling his beat, about 11 p.m. and became abusive toward the officer, police said, demanding to know why he had issued the parking citation.

The patrol officer requested the woman's driver's license at which point she tried to steal some of the officer's equipment, police said.

As the officer tried to arrest the woman, she began to resist and spit on the officer. The woman was eventually arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree theft, harassment, resisting arrest, escape and criminal property damage.

Report of light pole tampering prompts arrest

Police arrested a 37-year-old man in Pearl City last night after a caller reported seeing the man tampering with light posts about 10 p.m. in Pearl City.

Officers arrived to find cut up pieces of the pole in the man's truck. Police put the value of the pole at more than $2,000.

Police then arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree theft.

Wife reports sexual assault, husband arrested

Police arrested a 43-year-old 'Ewa Beach woman early yesterday after his wife, 42, told police her husband sexually assaulted her about 4:30 a.m.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault.

Man arrested after gun threat incident

Police arrested a 40-year-old Nanakuli man last night after he allegedly threatened to shoot a 40-year-old woman at a home on Mano Street.

Police were called to the home about 9:30 p.m. and were told the two had been arguing before the man allegedly choked the woman and threatened to shoot her with a handgun.

The man was then arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, having an unregistered firearm and abuse of a family or household member.
