Madden NFL Challenge title up for grabs today

Advertiser Staff

No video game has ever matched the impact that EA Sports' Madden NFL is enjoying these days.

ESPN, for example, often uses video of the game on its NFL shows and SportsCenter to show how teams run their plays in the real-life NFL, and sports video gamers have made the series — which is in its 17th year — one of the best-selling video games ever with more than 51 million copies sold.

As part of Pro Bowl week, EA Sports is holding its Madden Challenge finals from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Sheraton Waikiki.

Thousands of video gamers around the world competed in international and online tournaments for 32 spots in the live tournament here in Hawai'i.

At stake is the EA Sports Madden NFL '07 title and $100,000 first-place prize.

Defending champion Jarvis Thomas has advanced to today's final day of competition, and NFL players will be on hand at the tournament.
