North Shore surf could reach 30 feet on outer reefs

A high-surf warning is in effect until 4 p.m. tomorrow for the northern and western shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i, Moloka'i and Ni'ihau. The northern shores of Maui and the western shores of the Big Island are are under a high-surf advisory for the same time period, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Buoyed by another large northwest swell, surf could hit 30 feet on the outer reefs of the North Shore today. The swell will slowly diminish tomorrow, but remain about advisory levels through Saturday.

Western shores will see surf as high as 20 feet today, while surf along southern and western shores will be 1 foot to 3 feet.
