Volunteers sought for Ulupo Heiau cleanup

Advertiser Staff

Recent wind storms have blown down several trees at the Ulupo Heiau.

Volunteers are needed for a cleanup effort set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the site next to the YMCA, 1200 Kailua Road.

Bring work gloves, bottled water and wear shoes or tabis. Also, organizers suggest that volunteers planning to work later than 12:30 p.m. bring a sack lunch.

The cleanup is sponsored by Ahahui Malama I ka Lokahi and the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club, which are co-curators of the sacred site.
