City to sell 12 affordable-housing projects in phases

Hannemann said Kalana Nani in Kane'ohe will be the first to go on sale. He also said the project will be kept affordable in perpetuity.
It's unclear for how long the other housing projects will be kept affordable.
The projects will be sold in phases. It's still unclear, however, in what order the projects would be sold.
City Councilman Rod Tam, head of the newly formed affordable-housing committee, said he wants all of the projects to remain affordable in perpetuity.
He said he would prefer the properties be sold to nonprofits in the Islands or on the Mainland.
