Episcopal Bishop Schori here for change in leadership

Mary Kaye Ritz
Religion & Ethics Writer

Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will be coming to Hawai'i to help celebrate the change in leadership of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i.

The Right Rev. Richard Chang will step down March 10, when the Rev. Canon Robert L. Fitzpatrick, currently bishop-elect, officially takes over in a 10 a.m. consecration service.

Jefferts Schori, the first female presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church (the U.S. branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion), is the first and only female primate, head of one of the 38 national and regional churches, in the world's largest non-Catholic Christian denomination.

Her visit will be brief; she arrives the evening of March 8 and leaves soon after the consecration service.
