Former 'Idol' contestant among Ola Pono winners

Eleven winners of the 2007 Ola Pono awards will be recognized at a luncheon ceremony from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

This is the 10th anniversary of the awards. Ola Pono means to "live right."

Each winner receives a $1,000 donation to a charitable or school organization of his or her choice. Among this year's winners is Hawai'i's original "American Idol" candidate — Jordan Segundo.

Honorees are recognized for their contributions to in helping deter youth alcohol and drug use. Award winners to be honored and the charity or school they will be donating to:

Michael Casupang, Honolulu — Mid-Pacific Institute, Memorial Scholarship Fund for Lynette Pang.

Cara Gebhard, Pearl City — Highlands Intermediate

Zenobia Lese, Hau'ula — Hau'ula Elementary School

Kaua'i Safe and Drug Free Committee — Ka Kalai Wa'a O Kauai

Ocie Kuhaulua, Wai'anae — Wai'anae Intermediate

Edward Millet, Wahiawa — Wheeler Middle School

Paul Naki, Kaimuki — Waipahu High School, JROTC Program

Jordan Segundo, Honolulu — Adult Friends for Youth

Mere Taeu, Wahiawa — Wahiawa Elementary

Itsuo Tomita, Wahiawa — Wahiawa Elementary

Keiki Caucus, Honolulu — Kalihi YMCA and Lanakila Multi-purpose Senior Center
