Trade winds returning to Islands, bringing showers

A fading front is keeping the clouds around and causing a few showers across the state today, but returning trade winds will start shifting the showers toward the windward and mauka areas, the National Weather Service said.

The forecast:

Today: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs 69 to 76. Northeast winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with numerous showers. Lows 57 to 64. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny with showers likely. Highs 68 to 75. East winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 59 to 66. East winds 10 mph to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Sunday: Partly sunny with numerous showers. Highs 70 to 77. East winds 15 mph to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
