Kira Vercruyssen, a sophomore at Kapi'olani Community College, placed 13th overall at the 29th International German University Trampoline Championships last week in Freiburg, Germany.

Vercruyssen, who competed in three events, was the only non-European in the event that featured more than 140 athletes from 31 universities in seven countries.

Vercruyssen received a special invitation from the German university sports federation because of her performance in the All Japan Inter-College Championships in Osaka last summer.

Vercruyssen trains with other college trampoline gymnasts at Hawai'i Academy as a charter member of the first U.S. collegiate trampoline team.

Gymnasts from all O'ahu universities can train together at this facility and represent their respective schools at competitions in Asia, America, and Europe.

Full-time university students are welcome to train with her, regardless of ability.

If interested in trying out collegiate coed trampoline, contact the Hawai'i Academy at 842-5642.
