Defending champion Cameron Tringale of Georgia Tech shot a 6-under-par 64 yesterday to take a one-stroke lead into today's final round of the University of Hawai'i-Hilo Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Waikoloa Village Club.

Tringale, a sophomore, has a 36-hole total of 12-under 128.

Oregon's Derek Sipe and Oklahoma State's Jonathan Moore vaulted into contention after each shot 8-under 62. Sipe is at 129, and Moore at 130.

Oklahoma State leads the 18-team field with a 27-under 533 total. Stanford and Georgia Tech are tied for second at 537. UH-Manoa is tied for 14th at 565 and UH-Hilo is 18th at 597.


BASKETBALL

BYUH FALLS OUT OF LEAD

Rich Davis scored 30 points, including 13-for-13 free-throw shooting, as Grand Canyon knocked Brigham Young-Hawai'i out of the Pacific West Conference lead with a 78-67 victory last night at Phoenix, Ariz.

Devon Greene added 16 points for the PacWest-leading Antelopes (12-7, 8-2). Lucas Alves had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Seasiders (17-7, 9-3).

GRAND CANYON 86, BYUH 56

Rosalyn Nelson scored 16 points as the Lady Lopes (16-4, 10-0 PacWest) beat the Seasiders (10-12, 8-4) at Phoenix, Ariz. Latoya Wily scored 22 points for BYUH, which committed 17 first-half turnovers to fall behind 49-20 at intermission.

HPU 59, NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR 55

Brandon Lee had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Rishi Kakad added 12 points, including four free throws in the final 12 seconds, as the Sea Warriors (9-12, 4-7 PacWest) held off the Argos (7-13, 1-9) at Belmont, Calif. Chris Clock led the Argos with 19 points.

NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR 69, HPU 62

Corazon Riley scored 21 points as the Argo women (7-15, 6-4 PacWest) beat the Sea Warriors (2-21, 2-9) at Belmont, Calif. Ashley Jenkins scored 18 points and Kanani Thomas 14 for HPU.
