Five men were rescued this afternoon from a burning fishing boat off Diamond Head.

The Honolulu Fire Department and Coast Guard responded to the report of the boat fire at 3:07 p.m. The fire forced five men to abandon the vessel and leap into the ocean.

Another craft in the area brought the men ashore. They were treated and released.

Witnesses on shore said they could see flames and smoke coming from a boat that appeared to be about two miles offshore.
