Kamana'o, Brennan have their days in the sun

Two days in August will belong to University of Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan and former Rainbow Wahine volleyball setter Kanoe Kamana'o.

Both were honored in a ceremony Thursday at the State Capitol, with Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona presenting both with proclamations for their outstanding achievements during their collegiate careers.

Aiona officially proclaimed Aug. 9 as Kanoe Kamana'o Day in the state of Hawai'i, and Aug. 16 as Colt Brennan Day. Each day falls on the respective student-athlete's birthday.

"Kanoe has excelled on and off the volleyball court as a scholar-athlete and a four-time all-American, and finished her career as one of the most decorated volleyball players in UH history," Aiona said.

Kamana'o completed her eligibility in December.

Brennan announced his plans to return to UH for his senior season at a press conference last month.

"Colt Brennan has just completed one of the most prolific performances by a quarterback in NCAA history," Aiona said. "He completed more than 72 percent of his passes, threw for 5,549 yards and 58 touchdowns, and posted an NCAA record 185.96 pass efficiency rating."
