'Bows upset No. 24 Auburn, 2-1, on Tausaga's two-run HR

Senior Tyleen Tausaga's game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning sparked Hawai'i past No. 24 Auburn, 2-1, last night in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Tausaga's homer to right drove in Kaulana Gould, who reached on a walk, and came off Auburn starter Anna Thompson (0-2), who worked six innings and tied a season-high with 11 strikeouts.

Hawai'i's Justine Smethurst (2-0) allowed one unearned run on on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Auburn scored its only run in the first. After Lindsey Harrelson drew a one-out walk, Holly Currie hit a double to right-centerfield. Center fielder Tanisha Milca had a difficult time fielding the ball by the fence, and Harrelson scored, but on the play, Currie was thrown out at third base.

In the second game, junior pitcher Kate Robinson fired a four-hitter and Hawai'i shut out DePaul, 1-0, to gain the No. 1 seed in tournament.

Hawai'i (4-0) scored in the third when Milca drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on Kaulana Gould's single to center. Robinson (1-0) struck out four and walked none.
