Sewage spill on Halekauwila Street

A blocked sewer pipe caused about 1,000 gallons of sewage to overflow from a manhole at 801 Halekauwila Street this morning.The blockage is believed to have been caused by grease, according to the city Department of Environmental Services. Warning signs were posted along Kewalo Basin Park, Kewalo Basin, Point Panic and Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.
Water samples were taken and the public is advised to heed the warning signs.
