Latin music festival turns up the heat in May

Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawai'i will provide the sizzle when the Hawai'i International Latin Music Festival is held at 9 p.m. May 19 at the Hibiscus Ballroom of the Ala Moana Hotel.

Latin, jazz, salsa, merengue and Brazilian samba rhythms will prevail.

Yvette will be featured with Salsa Hawai'i, with a roster of Latin and jazz acts slated: the Brazilian Connection Band, trumpeter DeShannon Higa, saxophonist Larry Cook from England, singer-pianist Judi Palmeira, percussionist Annette Lipson from New York, percussionist Mario Sanchez from San Francisco and singer Pedro Haro.

The Salsa Stars will provide dance music, with a Latin-salsa performance by the NIX Dance Academy.
