A 49-year-old man with a cane reportedly became Honolulu's third pedestrian to be hit by a vehicle today.

The man was on the mauka side of Kapi'olani Boulevard trying to cross to the makai side near the Hawai'i Convention Center at about 12:50 p.m. when he was struck by a gray Nissan Altima heading 'ewa on Kapi'olani Boulevard, a witness told The Advertiser.

A friend helped the man to the curb, where he complained of rib and back pain, the witness said. He was transported to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition by Honolulu Emergency Services Department officials.
