Nominations under way for Windward teen arts awards

The deadline for the Windward Arts Council's 2007 Teen Arts Achievement Awards is March 1.Applicants in five categories — instrumental and vocal music, dance, drama, creative writing and visual arts — will be considered for awards up to $300.
The competition, now in its 18th year, is open to students in grades 9 through 12, who reside in Windward O'ahu. Arts studies may be in school or with private instructions; applicants must be nominated by their teachers.
Award recipients will be presented in a public concert and exhibition April 29 at the Ruth Orcutt Bacon Auditorium at Pohai Nani Retirement Community.
