Beth McLachlin in 'high spirits' after breaking vertebra

By Leila Wai
Advertiser Staff Writer

Beth McLachlin, a decades-long contributor to Hawai'i volleyball as a player and coach, suffered a broken vertebra yesterday, but has use of all her limbs and is in "high spirits" said her husband, Chris.

Beth was demonstrating a backflip on a trampoline for her physical education class at La Pietra when she fell, her husband said. She broke her C6 vertebra, the sixth vertebra from the top of the neck, and suffered an "extreme concussion."

The family received good news today, when Beth, who was "ambulatory and moving and cheerful," was given clearance to go home.
