Hawai'i's average price for a gallon of self-serve gasoline was almost 64 cents higher than the national average, according to a mid-February survey by the American Automobile Association. The $2.86-a-gallon average found here compared with the national rate of about $2.23 and compared with South Carolina, which had the country's lowest average at $2.05 a gallon, AAA said. The automobile club also said gasoline prices are expected to move higher during the next few weeks because of higher oil prices and other factors.
