Deputy's alleged killer indicted; bail set at $5 million

A man who allegedly shot and killed an off-duty deputy sheriff during a botched robbery was indicted for murder by an O'ahu grand jury this morning.

John Koa Lorenzo Jr., 32, was indicted on one count of second-degree murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of use of a prohibited firearm.

At the prosecution's request, Lorenzo's bail was increased from $1 million to $5 million.
