Ex-boyfriend arrested in robbery incident

A 21-year-old Hau'ula man was arrested in Kane'ohe last night after he allegedly struck his former girlfriend in the chest and took her purse while she was walking with her new boyfriend at a shopping center in Kane'ohe.

Police said the suspect left the shopping center at about 8:15 p.m. but was found about 45 minutes later after Windward District police officers converged on the area.

The former boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

'Ewa Beach man charged in sexual assault case

A 20-year-old 'Ewa Beach man has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual assault in connection with a complaint filed on behalf of a teenage girl who said she was attacked two months ago.

The girl, who was identified only as a juvenile, said she was assaulted at about 9 p.m. Dec. 15 at Geiger Park in 'Ewa Beach.

Police said the girl identified Kevin Paul Gardner in a photographic lineup. Gardner was contacted and turned himself in yesterday at police headquarters on Beretania Street.

He was later released on a $25,000 bond.

Convicted felon suspected of gun possession

Police said a loaded handgun was found on a convicted felon in Waikiki yesterday after officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person peering into vehicles in a hotel parking lot on Kuhio Avenue.

Police said the 39-year-old man was first arrested about 3:25 p.m. on suspicion of various drug offenses, and that a gun and ammunition were found on the man.

Among other things, the man was arrested on suspicion of failing to properly store a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Fistfight leads to stolen-vehicle arrest

A 28-year-old man with no local address was arrested in 'Ewa Beach early this morning after he got into a fistfight over a truck that had been reported stolen.

Police said a 38-year-old man spotted the younger man driving a truck that had been stolen from a friend of the older man.

Police said the older man confronted the man driving the truck, and the two got into a fight at the corner of Pohakupuna Road and 'Ihipehu Street at about 12:10 a.m.

Police said a patrol officer happened upon the altercation, was told about the stolen truck and arrested the younger man on suspicion of unauthorized control of a vehicle.
