Ledward Ka'apana didn't win a Grammy Award this year, but his "Grandmaster Slack Key Guitar" CD has won a slack key nod in the 10th annual Hawaii Music Awards.

He is one of 30 winners in the competition, announced on the Music Foundation of Hawaii Web site (http://www.hawaiimusicawards.com). The awards presentation is set from 7 to 10 p.m. March 23 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Tropics Showroom. A reception from 6 to 7 p.m. precedes the awards show. Tickets: $75, includes dinner and show.

The Hawaii Music Awards, a project of the Music Foundation of Hawaii, does not certify an overall "best album," but acknowledges achievement in 30 categories. It is considered Hawai'i's "other" award, an alternative to the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts' Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, which will be presented June 20.
