Police to deliver valentines, jaywalking reminders

By David Waite
Advertiser Staff Writer

Honolulu police officers will be doling out a bit of love from noon to 12:45 this afternoon in the downtown area.

The officers will be distributing valentines and candy to passers-by along King Street between Fort Street Mall and Bishop Square.

Police Department spokesman Capt. Frank Fujii said the officers will also be reminding pedestrians in the area not to jaywalk.

The event is part of the department's stepped-up efforts to bolster pedestrian safety in light of the seven pedestrian fatalities that have occurred so far this year on O'ahu roadways, Fujii said.
