Heroes of Humanity to be feted

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Chapter of the Art of Living Foundation's Heroes of Humanity reception will be held Friday at the East-West Center.

Heroes of Humanity celebrates people committed to upholding human values and community service. The Art of Living Foundation is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization that works in consultation with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Prorams and activities of the foundation have reached millions across the world, including victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

Among the institutions being honored by the local chapter are the East-West Center, the Institute for Human Services and Angel Network Charities.

The national foundation also has established the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Award for Uplifting Human Values, which seeks to recognize local leaders. The local winner will be announced at Friday's reception and invited to attend a national celebration March 28 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Friday's reception is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
