Moanalua beats Kailua to earn state hoops berth

Moanalua defeated Kailua, 48-42, for fifth place and a state tournament berth tonight in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I boys basketball tournament at Farrington.

In the third-place game later tonight, Radford plays Campbell.

Tomorrow night at McKinley, defending champion Kaimuki plays Kalaheo for the OIA title.

Kaimuki, Kalaheo, Radford, Campbell and Moanalua qualified for next week's boys state basketball tournament.

In the OIA White Conference (Division II) tournament, Farrington beat Kaiser, 60-57, for third place and a state berth in next week's inaugural boys Division II state basketball tournament.

The OIA has three berths in the Division II state tournament.
