Ledward Ka'apana may not have won a Grammy Award this year, but his "Grandmaster Slack Key Guitar" CD picked up a nod in the 10th annual Hawaii Music Awards.

He is among the winners in the competition, announced on the Music Foundation of Hawaii Web site. The awards presentation is set for March 23.

The Hawaii Music Awards, a project of the Music Foundation of Hawaii, does not certify an overall "best album," but acknowledges achievement in 30 categories.

It is considered Hawai'i's "other" music award, an alternative to the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts' Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, which will be presented June 20.
