SEATTLE — No. 10 Washington State has earned its archrival's utmost respect.

"I think they're better than number 10," Washington's Jon Brockman said after the Cougars beat the Huskies, 65-61, last night. "They're a great ball club. They didn't get flustered when we got the lead."

"Washington State is a well-oiled machine," Washington coach Lorenzo Romar added. "They capitalize on every mistake that you make."

Taylor Rochestie scored a season-high 16 and 'Iolani School alum Derrick Low hit two free throws with 16.7 seconds left to help the poised Cougars win a close game down the stretch.

The Cougars (22-4, 11-3 Pac-10), who received their highest ranking in history in this week's Associated Press poll, won their fifth straight conference game. The Huskies (16-9, 6-8) had won five of their previous six league games.

Daven Harmeling's jumper put the Cougars ahead to stay, 59-58, with 6:04 to play. Low, who finished with 12 points, buried a 3-pointer to make it 62-58 with 4:16 left.

Washington closed to 62-61 on Justin Dentmon's 3-pointer with 4:09 remaining. Neither team scored until Low was fouled and made two free throws for a 64-61 lead.

NO. 11 NEVADA 68, SAN JOSE STATE 60

Nick Fazekas had 20 points and 10 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season, and the host Wolf Pack (23-2, 11-1 Western Athletic Conference) rallied from a 38-31 halftime deficit to beat the Spartans (4-21, 3-10).

Louisiana Tech 68, Idaho 59: Trey McDowell scored 19 points, Chad McKenzie had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and the host Bulldogs (8-17, 6-7) opened a 33-20 lead by halftime and held on to defeat the Vandals (3-22, 1-12).

HAWAI'I D-II MEN

NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR 73, HAWAI'I-HILO 69

Ryan Cooper scored 23 points, Eric Bossom 16 and Dan Bergeron 11, leading the Argos (8-14, 2-10) past the Vulcans (8-15, 5-6) at Hilo civic.

GRAND CANYON 56, CHAMINADE 54

Zack Whiting had 17 points and 10 assists, but missed a jumper with two seconds left as the 'Lopes (15-7, 10-2) held off the Silverswords (13-9, 5-5) at McCabe Gym.

HAWAI'I D-II WOMEN

NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR 72, HAWAI'I-HILO 56

Ashley Wilson scored 20 points, Grace Hartman 14 and Tamar Savazian 10, and the Argos (8-16, 7-5 PacWest) took a 43-33 halftime lead in beating the Vulcans (4-15, 3-8) at Hilo civic.

GRAND CANYON 96, CHAMINADE 53

Rosalyn Nelson poured in 25 points to lead four teammates in double figures as the visiting 'Lopes (19-4, 12-0) rolled past the Silverswords (3-16, 3-9).
