No tsunami from strong Japanese earthquake

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake shook Japan's northern island of Hokkaido at 9:02 a.m. local time Saturday (2:02 p.m. Hawai'i time Friday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.The earthquake, which was centered 140 miles southeast of Sapporo, was "strong," the USGS said on its Web site.
There is no threat of tsunami from the quake, the Japan Metrological Agency said on its Web site.
