UH-Hilo men, women lose in basketball

Richard Davis scored 25 points as Grand Canyon defeated Hawai'i-Hilo, 72-64, today in a Pacific West Conference men's basketball game at Hilo civic.David Gonzales added 12 points for the Antelopes (15-7, 10-2 PacWest).
Travis Sobers scored 19 points, and Vince Alvarado and Darryl Harris each added 14 for the Vulcans (9-16, 6-7).
Earlier, Jennifer Cobb scored 18 points as Grand Canyon beat the Hilo women's team, 91-72.
Brandi Steinke added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Antelopes, who opened the second half with a 14-0 run to increase a one-point halftime lead to 57-42 in three minutes.
Sheila Azevedo had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Krystlelyn Omlan added 17 points for the Vulcans (5-16, 4-9).
