2-run homer by UH's Manuma lifts Rainbows, 3-2

Valana Manuma hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Hawai'i to a 3-2 victory over Mississippi State today in the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic softball tournament at Las Vegas.

With one out in the seventh, Tyleen Tausaga reached on a throwing error by the second base player on a ground ball. MSU relief pitcher Sara Hickerson struck out the next batter before Manuma hit her walkoff home run.

Jessica Morton pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory for the Rainbow Wahine.

Hawai'i (6-2 overall, 2-1 in the tournament) will play Cal State Northridge and Utah tomorrow.
