UH women earn swim, dive titles

Hawai'i won four women's events yesterday and remained in second place entering today's final day of the Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at San Antonio, Texas.
Nevada leads the eight-team event with 556.5 points, followed by Hawai'i at 483.
Hawai'i's gold medalists were: Mia Broden (100 butterfly, 55.13, NCAA provisional time), Bache Atkins (200 freestyle, 1:48.00, NCAA provisional time), Nicole Mackey (100 backstroke, 54.52) and Megan Farrow (3-meter diving, 341.40).
BOXING
STATE TITLES UP FOR GRABS
The USA Boxing state championships will be held today, starting at 7 p.m., at Palolo Gym.
Admission is $10.
The winners will advance to the U.S. Championships in June at Colorado Springs, Colo. Those who reach the quarterfinals will qualify fo the Olympic Trials held in August. The winner at the Olympic Trials will represent the United States in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

SENIORS PLAY FINAL EVENT
The Second Annual New City Nissan Goodwill Softball Classic, featuring 52 high school seniors from O'ahu Interscholastic Association and the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, concludes today at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
The four-team, round-robin format began yesterday. Today's third-place (11 a.m.) and championship (1 p.m.) games will be broadcast live statewide on OC-16.
Games resume at 9 a.m. Admission is free.

UH WINS HOME OPENER
Kristy Bagnall's goal with 2:26 left in the second overtime propelled No. 4 Hawai'i past No. 8 San Diego State, 10-9, yesterday in the Rainbow Wahine's home opener at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
