High wind advisory posted for parts of Maui, Big Island

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for higher elevations on Maui and the Big Island.
Forecasters are urging motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, to drive with extreme caution.
Strong east winds of 25 to 40 mph, with frequent gusts of 50 mph, are expected in the Haleakala area on Maui and the Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa summits on the Big Island.
The advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow.
