Kaua'i officials issue fireworks reminders

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E – Officials with the Kaua'i Fire Department are reminding residents that a permit from the fire department is required to light fireworks for Chinese New Year.

Firecrackers may be ignited from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today only.

Although the following items are classified as fireworks, no permit is required to purchase them: "snakes," sparklers, fountains, cylindrical or cone fountains, whistles, toy smoke devices, wheels and ground spinners, and other similar products.
