Punahou, University top seeds in state boys basketball

Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions Punahou and University High are the top seeds for Division I and Division II, respectively, in next week's Hawaiian Airlines Boys Basketball State Championships, it was announced today.

The 12-team tournaments run Tuesday to Friday at school sites and the Stan Sheriff Center.

Punahou received the top seed in the Division I tournament, followed by O'ahu Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Kaimuki, Kamehameha-Hawai'i and Kamehameha-Maui.

In the Division II tournament, other seeded teams are No. 2 Aiea of the OIA, No. 3 Kohala of the Big Island and No. 4 Seabury Hall of Maui.

All seeded teams receive first-round byes on Tuesday.
