Gusty winds likely to hang around awhile

A high pressure system north of the state is expected to keep robust trade winds blowing at least through Thursday.

Moisture picked up by the trades will fall primarily over windward and mountain areas, and could reach some leeward areas on the smaller islands.

A weather front is expected to approach the Islands from the west as next week nears, causing the winds to turn southerly and weaken.

Here's what to expect during the next few days:

Today, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 74 to 81. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 64 to 71. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tomorrow, Presidents Day, sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Breezy. Highs 75 to 81. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tomorrow night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 63 to 69. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 74 to 81. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday night, mostly clear. Isolated showers in the evening. Lows 62 to 69. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
