High surf advisory issued for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service at 3:30 a.m. today issued a high-surf advisory for east-facing shores on Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Maui and the Big Island.

Strong trade winds continue to produce advisory level surf for the east-facing shores of the exposed islands, forecasters said. Surf along the affected shores is expected to be in the 6- to 9-foot range today.

Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break due to the hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.

The high surf advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow and may be extended if conditions warrant.
