Punahou senior shares 'Day of Remembrance' on film

Advertiser Staff

A free 3:30 p.m. program today will celebrate Presidents Day in a different way — marking the day when President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which sent more than 110,000 Japanese Americans on the West Coast and Hawai'i to internment camps.

A 30-minute film by Taylour Chang, a Punahou senior, features testimonies by people arrested and incarcerated and their now-grown children.

The "Day of Remembrance" program will be at the architecture auditorium on the University of Hawai'i's Manoa campus.
