Fat Tuesday festival, block party in downtown tonight

Advertiser Staff

Beads, hurricane drinks, food booths ... it must be Fat Tuesday, and for those of us who couldn't make it to New Orleans, there is a Mardi Gras festival at Aloha Tower Marketplace. Also tonight, there's the Nu'uanu Avenue block party between Pauahi and King streets.

The Mardi Gras Madness Festival runs from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Gordon Biersch and Aloha Tower, where there will be costumed performers, a parade and entertainment by New Orleans Jazz Band, Zanuck Lindsey and Rock Hard Hawaii.

The Mardi Gras Street Festival, from 6 to 10 p.m., will have entertainment, food booths and bands.

Both events are free.
