Police arrest one of two suspects in Kapolei burglary

Advertiser Staff

An 18-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the burglary of a house in Kapolei, about three blocks away from where the suspect lives.

A 45-year-old man told police his home was burglarized between 2 and 4 p.m. and that jewelry was taken from drawers in the garage.

The homeowner told police that one of his son's friends told him that two of the son's other friends broke into the garage, took the jewelry and sold it to a pawn shop in Wai'anae.

Police said a parent of one of the men who was implicated brought the two suspects to the home that was burglarized where one of the suspects confessed and the other ran away before police arrived.

Police arrested the remaining suspect on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
