Hawai'i's Kaneko loses out in playoff for LPGA berth

Advertiser Staff

Kris Tamulis birdied the fourth hole of a playoff — the par-5 No. 13 hole — to earn the final qualifying berth today in this week's Fields Open at Ko Olina.

Tamulis, Sacred Hearts junior Ayaka Kaneko, Minea Blomqvist and Meredith Ward all shot 1-under 71s Monday, forcing a playoff today for the last of two spots in the Fields Open, a 54-hole tournament from Thursday through Saturday.

Yesterday's top qualifier was Lisa Fernandes, a Ohio State alum who shot the low-round of 2-under 70.
