The parent company of Hawaiian Airlines narrowed its losses in the final three months of 2006 compared with the same period a year earlier.Hawaiian Holdings Inc. said today it lost $9.6 million, or 20 cents a share in the fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $19.5 million, or 43 cents per share during fourth quarter of 2005. For all of 2006, Hawaiian said it lost $40.5 million, or 86 cents per share, compared to 2005's loss of $12.4 million, or 32 cents per share.
Hawaiian attributed the losses to higher fuel prices and increase competition in the interisland market with the June 9 launch of Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group's go! airline.
