Voyaging canoes leave Majuro Atoll for Pohnpei

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i's voyaging canoes left Majuro Atoll this morning after a two-and-a-half day stay, headed for Pohnpei, their next stop.

The canoes Hokule'a and Alingano Maisu, with escort vessel Kama Hele, are on an extended voyage from Hawai'i through the western Pacific. Their first leg took them nearly 2,400 miles from the Big Island to Majuro in the Marshall Islands. Their next leg is roughly 750 miles.
