Shidler Group buys ANA Kalakaua Center for $30M

Advertiser Staff

The Shidler Group yesterday announced it had acquired the ANA Kalakaua Center in Honolulu for about $30 million.

The nine-story, 151,842-square-foot office building is on Kalakaua Avenue at the entrance to Waikiki. The building was purchased from ANA Real Estate Hawai'i Inc., a subsidiary of All Nippon Airways of Japan.

The building features ground-floor retail space and houses 38 tenants, including Planet Hollywood, JTB Hawai'i, Aston Hotels & Resorts, and Starwood Hotels. The building is 98 percent occupied, according to The Shidler Group.

The property was developed in 1980 as Mitsukoshi Hawai'i, a multitenant retail building that housed the local branch of Japan's Mitsukoshi department store. The building was sold in 1989 to an affiliate of the owner and converted to its current mixed-use office and retail center.
