HPD announces promotions, transfers

The Honolulu Police Department announced today the promotions of Alexander Ahlo and Jeffrey Richards to the rank of captain, effective Sunday.

Ahlo will be assigned to the Training Division and Richards to the Waikiki patrol district.

The Criminal Investigation Division, which is undergoing a major shuffling of supervisors, has been assigned three newly promoted lieutenants. They are Thomas Reyes, James Strickland and Craig Uehira, who will head up the auto theft, child abuse and sex crimes units, respectively.

CID supervising lieutenants with new assignments are David Kamai (homicide), Marc Hibbs (domestic violence), Britt Nishijo (robbery) and Eric Yiu (major crimes).

Longtime homicide Lt. Bill Kato has transferred to patrol.

Promoted to the rank of detective/sergeant were Sean Hughes, Randall Platt and Eric Tonouchi.
